The early days of Spring are upon us, and oh, so beautiful. Looking out of the window just now I can see faint shades of green as the first leaves are beginning to appear on the trees. Such a wonderful time of the year.

Two new books I would like to bring to your attention. The first, WISDOM FROM THE WORLD RELIGIONS, PATHWAYS TOWARD HEAVEN ON EARTH is by Sir John Templeton. Sir John is a hero of mine. He was born in a modest family in Tennessee, and came to be one of the wealthiest men in the world. His mother was a Unity student and he did not forget her teachings later in his adult life. A very giving man, he has shared his wealth with the world through the Templeton Foundation. Unity has been the recipient of his good work in many ways.

NO LESS THAN GREATNESS is by Mary Manin Morrissey. She is a New Thought minister with a huge church in Oregon. As a minister, counselor, and teacher, she has inspired tens of thousands of people to reach higher in life than they ever believed possible. Her message is that God has designed each of us for greatness.

This month, we have a special treat for our web site readers in the form of a personal spiritual story, called "My Fish Story", shared by a Unity member. We have added a new section to the page called, "Things to Think About". We hope this true story touches your heart and inspires you in some way.

If you have a story of inspiration that you would like to share, we would like to put it on the web page. It can be your own story or one you know about. The emphasis is just on sharing true, personal, spiritual experiences, no right or wrong, good or bad, etc.

If you would like to respond to a story you read, or to one of the books on the site, please take a minute to put your comments in the Sharing Unity Forum, particularly if it blessed you in some way. We now have a forum on this page, called Sharing Unity. All you have to do is click on the link and post your message. Things to Think About....

I did volunteer work at a major healing center in the northeast in the summer of 1992. Early one beautiful morning, I spent some time with a man who was particpting in an adult education program at the institute. We were sitting at a picnic table, just next to the edge of a pond. The water was clear as a mirror, and we enjoyed watching the tadpoles swimming around. It was so quiet, and there was a delicious sense of peace and harmony.

Well, soon a trout swam by. I had seen a trout a few weeks earlier; and when I mentioned it to the staff, I was told I was lucky as there was only one trout in the pond. So when this trout swam by it looked smaller then the one I had seen earlier. I related the story of there only being one trout to the man I was with. Then I made the following statement:

"Gee, if there are two trouts, it would be nice if they swam by side by side so we could see them."

Well, it wasn't more than 2 minutes when they swam by, side-by-side with the smaller one in front of the larger one. Hard to believe, isn't it! Needless to say...we looked at each other in total disbelief! I still get chill bumps when I recall that experience.

I began to process the experience. I knew there must be a message. I knew there must be a reason that this happened. I knew that God was communicating with me through the experience. What was it? What was I to gain from this event?

For several days, I gave much thought to the experience of that eventful day. I thought about what had led up to the fish swimming by. It had begun with a thought. A simple thought...then verbalizing the thought...without attachment to the outcome. I mean...who would have ever thought those fish would do what I asked them to do...but they did. WHY? This simply had to be a "God" thing. Well, over time it became more clear. Thoughts are things, and thoughts have power. The key seemed to be in "not having any attachment to the outcome" and having no expectations.

I think God wanted me to realize the power of thought so he created a situation in which I could experience it for myself...and then I would KNOW.
