The month of April 2003 will long be remembered by all of us in Unity and indeed, by thousands of others. Two icons of the New Thought movement passed from this earthly plane. James Dillet Freeman, long known as the Poet Laureate of Unity made his transition on April 9, and Eric Butterworth, author of numerous books and most recently was the senior minister of Unity Center of New York City made his transition on April 18. Both men were giants in the publishing world and irreplaceable leaders of the Unity movement.

I was moved by the words of my good friend Jane Trotter commenting on Eric Butterworth, and I think her thoughts apply to both of these men.

"The news of Eric Butterworth's transition made me think, as always, that people of his sanctity should be immortal on this plane. I certainly would not want to be, but he was such a saintly, brilliant man, that one wishes he could shed Light from this vantage forever. Alas, he is sending Light from a higher plane now. I am more inspired than ever to read more of his writings."
